Day 19

This eating thing is becoming routine which is a good and a bad thing. It's good because eatikng healthily should just be a routine, I shouldn't give it more than the merest thought. The bad thing however is that I slip into bad habits and before I know it I'm eating trash again. I can't let that happen.

I finished I Capture the Castle. It was such a lovely, well written book. I really recommend it and also the film too which really holds it own in comparison. I am now listening to Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About. It's amusing but a little contrived, he does have a good turn of phrase but ultimately, it's just chewing gum. I am also reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. It is beautiful. I guess I may well post more at another time...

Off to see if the nectarines are ripe...

Talking books

I am in the middle of listening to I Capture the Castle on audio book. I loved the film and although it was a little slow to start, I love the book. It's very compelling! Before ICtC I listened to Round Ireland with a Fridge. That was funny! I really enjoy listening to books. In the car is best although it is handy to listen in the gym too. It's difficult at home because there can be so many interruptions. I must make a habit of borrowing more audio books from the library...

Films

I wanted to add that I've enjoyed a few films recently. Big Fish was entertaining and Beetlejuice I haven't seen since it was on at the cinema. Tonight I watched the majority of Mrs Doubtfire (which I love!). We have taped for our viewing pleasure: Strictly Ballroom and Cat in the Hat. That should keep me going, although I do have to track down Leap of Faith for the Ship of Fools movie club. Just off to search ebay...

Day 11

Today's food update: Good

Feeling hungry but spaced out the fruit in the morning. Had a picnic lunch and expected to have fresh French bread but resisted. Had a huge salad: delicious and nutritious. And Immy wanted to make macaroni cheese for tea so we had that with brocolli, sugar snaps and grilled tomatoes.

Feeling slightly peckish again now but that's fine until tomorrow...

Day 9

Today is day 9 in my healthy eating plan. The idea is that I've cut out sweet food (biscuits, sweets and cake), eating more fruit and veg and limiting the amount of wheat products I eat. I started on the first day of Living Water and what I was doing was affirmed during LW as one of the speakers talked in lushious detail about fresh jam donughts and then read a passage of scripture about Christ. He then asked which one were we more attracted to. It sounds naff written down but he put it across with humour and humility, he wasn't condemning. This didn't really awaken anything new in my mind as I was already aware that food was too high a priority in my life.

Feeling smug

I get a great sense of satisfaction from clearing stuff out. I wonder why that is? Home detox- a great boost. Sometimes I wonder where all the junk comes from. If I paid attention to the advice I gave earlier about getting rid of something in order to make room for something new you buy, then I guess there wouldn't be a problem. I think my issue is paper. I think "This is something I need to keep hold of because I need it" and then it just swims around, going from place to place so I "don't forget it". In other words: junk.

Anyway, getting rid is great. I'm off to do more...

Just a very quick update!

Living Water has been brilliant! Very lively and charismatic this year lots of speaking and singing in tongues. We have seen David Carr, Peter Greig (from 24/7 prayer) and Lynn Swart who is absolutley wonderful. The worship has been led by Gareth Robinson and people from St. Thomas', Sheffield. I guess I will post more when the event finishes.

Living Water

I am going to be at the Norfolk Showground over the next few days for a Christian event called Living Water. I usually find it very inspiring and I'm looking forward to it. I'm not sure there's any particular speaker I'm looking forward to, historically I get the most out of people I haven't heard of before!

Jobs

Lauren has had an interview at Waitrose and got the job! She will be working on the deli counter on Thursday evening and Sunday. Yay!

I want to work there too!

A true Christian...

I am very touched to read this today.

Dominique Walker, sister of Anthony who was killed in a racist attack has quoted the bible in saying "Seventy times seven we have to forgive, that's what Jesus said. So we have to, we have to forgive. The only thing left to do now is to catch them."

What a truly remarkable woman. I pray that God will comfort her, bless her and protect her in the difficult times ahead and as the family begin to rebuild their lives.

I pray that the men responsible are brought to justice.

Silly Things

It's always the silly things that seem to upset me. I was fine on Friday thinking that I would be working all this week until I was told that they weren't expecting me to work. Why should I feel upset at having some extra days off? Well I guess it makes me feel unwanted, superfluous.

Then I watch What A Girl Wants and get upset not by the rich and subtle plot but by the soundtrack.

Unfathomable...
