how about
giving the cats their worming tablet
shaving (is that a job ?)
descaling the shower head
To cope with the odd socks problem - look in Lakeland, they do an amazing production which you attach to your socks when you take them off and as they go through the was. They've even got a little clip to attach them to the washing line!
