Advent Calendar Day Nineteen

It seems strange to think of new life at this time of year but it isn't all that strange at all. We have had a really mild winter up until now but all of a sudden, we're in the middle of heavy frost and true wintery conditions. Nature did seem very confused: swallows were staying put and not migrating south, flowers are either still in bloom or coming into bloom. Winter is usually associated with death. But we celebrate new life and new hope in Jesus Christ. Just like the snowdrops that peep through the snow, signs of life and hope emerge from the gloom. Even if winter has come late, we know that spring flowers will be on their way. That certainly gives me hope!
