Pinch, punch, first of the month! (No return!)
Here are some interesting facts for you:
1. There are now more than 600 full-time degree courses in creative writing - with some universities offering more than 20 different types of creative writing degree.
2. China executes more prisoners than the rest of the world put together (gruesome story here)
3. One in eight children in primary schools in England have English as a second language.

It astounds me that our country seems to accept China as a moral equal on the world political stage.
China's just been admitted to a human rights council, and is a permanant member of the UN security council. I'm not at all happy with this. I think that China is a very worrying prospect for all of us. The common perception is that things are better there these days: I just don't see that.
that's Politics for you Carl - what you say is right but the diplomatic solution is to have them in the hope that they can be persuaded. I can see the advantages of having them on side rather than out on their own where they could be even more of a danger than they are already.
I fully agree with you Carl. And yes as Joolian says it is politics. It is like you scratch my back and I will scratch yours. Every country understands that China is a force to be reckoned with economically and they are tend to do the wisest thing - scratch its back.
