David Cameron- youth champion?

An unlikely ambassedor for young people, Tory leader David Cameron is calling for a change in attitude to teenagers wearing "hoodies". He is to say that teenagers who hide under hooded tops are trying to "blend in" rather than appear threatening. I like this fresh approach from Cameron but instantly thought that it was an attempt to win favour with a younger voter. According to former Tory MP and newspaper columnist Michael Brown however, he will be alienating his grassroots voters with this stance and suggests he will have to wartch his back. If this is the case and he has gone for what he believes rather than a new spin and a funky image, I admire him for speaking out in this way.

I seem to remember once posting: “…when motives mix they seem to mix like liquids and it is humanly impossible to separate them out into their components. 3+7 =10, but which bit in 10 is 3 and which is 7?…” As for Mr. Cameron who must do all in his power to get his party to the top, he is “…probably like the rest of us with good and bad motives well and truly and irretrievably mixed….”

Politicians are in a difficult position: They have to tow the party line, and appear upbeat and in control – how often do you hear a politician say “I don’t know, it can’t be done!”, and yet at the same to time we demand that they be completely truthful. Their role has placed upon them incompatible demands, so no wonder they mince their words and appear devious. And no wonder that someone from the “I’ve got a way with words” legal profession like Mr. Blair has done so well!

By the way, when are going to fix your blog? I use it a bit like a space-time portal to traverse observe the alien world of “yoof” work when I am hopping around the internet like a star-wars hyper space jumper. The need to scroll down every time to pick up links is giving me repetitive strain injury in my wrist. Fancy being sued?

Nah, you'll have to buy a wrist support! ;-) Consider this a disclaimer: all those who use my links do so at their own risk!

Even if it is for publicity, good on him for saying it, somebody influential needs to.

I actually think that he's being sincere.
