Chain type messages once more

Sorry but the myth below wasn't as depressing as this chain thing:

Do you remember February 1993 in England , when a
young boy of 3 was taken from a Liverpool shopping
centre by two 10-year-old boys?
Jamie Bulger walked away from his mother for only
a second, Jon Venables took his hand and led him out
of the mall with his friend Robert Thompson. They took
Jamie on a walk for over 2 and a half miles, along the
way stopping every now and again to
torture the poor little boy who was crying
constantly for his mummy.
Finally they stopped at a railway track where they
brutally kicked him, threw stones at him, rubbed paint
in his eyes, pushed batteries up his anus and cut his
fingers off with scissors. Other mutilations were
inflicted but not reported in the press.

N.B. :- Remember, a 3year old cannot possibly
defend themselves against a 10 year old, let alone of
2 them.

What these two boys did was so horrendous that
Jamie's mother was forbidden to identify his body.
They then left his beaten small body on railway
tracks so a train could run him over to hide the mess
they had created. These two boys, even being boys,
understood what they did was wrong, hence trying to
make it look like an accident.

This week Lady Justice Butler-Sloss has awarded
the two boys ( now men ), anonymity for the rest of
their lives when they leave custody with new
identities. They will also leave custody early only
serving just over half of their sentence.
They are being relocated to Australia to live out
the rest of their lives. They disgustingly and
violently took Jamie's life away and in return they
each get a new life!

Please.... . If you feel as strongly as we do, (
and if you haven't already signed this petition ) that
this is a grave Miscarriage of justice - Hit the
forward button and add your name at the end, and send
it to everyone you can !

If you are the 700th person to sign, please
forward this e-mail to: cust.ser.cs@gtnet.gov.uk
and mark it for the attention it to Lady Justice
Butler-Sloss.

Then continue on until it hits 1400, before you
email her the list again.
There is power in numbers & these petitions do
help.
Maybe it'll prevent another child from a violent
death & maybe it'll get greater, more appropriate
convictions for these criminals....whatever their age.

Please take a few seconds to forward it to your
mail list & don't forget to add your name to the list.

I don't doubt the continued pain of the parents of James Bulger (apparently he was never called Jamie at home) after the death of their son but why does the mob mentality still exist for those with no connection? It was a story that shocked and appalled everyone but after the shock settled, people started to realise that the two perpetrators were boys with sad and violent upbringings themselves. It was a complete tragedy. But of course the public have to set themselves up as the moral compass and the sentence passed by the judge was too short (even though conviction in an adult court and length of sentence were both criticised by the European Court of Human Rights) And what if the small matter of a custodial sentence doesn't really count in their eyes? Why should these boys ever have peace and settle down to live life? It makes me sick to my stomach that this does the rounds to stir up old prejudices and try to take the law into their own hands.

Yuk!

Urban Myths get me down

Facebook can be fun but the Funwall feature depresses me as it seems to carry the largest number of urban myths I have ever seen. The most depressing of which I have posted below:

A woman at the nightclub, 'Crow Bar'- on Saturday night was taken by 5 men,
who according to hospital and police reports, gang raped her before dumping her.

Unable to remember the events of the evening, tests later confirmed the
repeat rapes along with traces of Rohypnol in her blood, with Progesterex,
which is essentially a small sterilization pill.

The drug is now being used by rapists at parties to rape and sterilize their
victims.

Progesterex is available to vets to sterilize large animals.

Rumor has it that Progesterex is being used together with Rohypnol, the date
rape drug. As with Rohypnol, all they have to do is drop it into the girls
drink. The girl can't remember a thing the next morning, of all that had
taken place the night before.

Progesterex, which dissolves in drinks just as easily, is such that the
victim doesn't conceive from the rape and the rapist needn't worry about
having a paternity test identifying him months later.

THE DRUGS EFFECTS ARE NOT TEMPORARY !!!!

THEY ARE PERMANENT !!!!

Progesterex was designed to sterilize horses.

ANY FEMALE WHO UNKNOWINGLY TAKES THE DRUG WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO CONCEIVE
!!!!!

The b*"%^*!s can get this drug from anyone who is in vet school or any
university.

It's that easy, and Progesterex is about to break out big everywhere.

Believe it or not, there are even sites on the Internet telling people how
to use it.

Please FORWARD ~ This to everyone you know, especially girls.

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU'RE OUT AND DON'T LEAVE YOUR DRINK UNATTENDED.

Please make the effort to pass this onto all you know.

Guys, please inform all your female friends and relatives.

This has now been reported to have been used on 360 women around London and
over 900 in the United States.

GIRLS !!! KEEP YOUR DRINKS SAFE AT ALL TIMES

And men, look after the girls you're with.
PLEASE PASS ON.... (REPOST)

Just one moment spent looking on Snopes.com shows this is just an Urban Myth relying on the genuine (but hyped up?) fear of date rape. There is no such drug as Progesterex and if any man were planning an attack as reported above, they would be better off using a condom to stop detection after the event rather than a sterilization drug.

Richard Dawkins and carols

This is quite strange in my eyes: Richard Dawkins, vitriolic atheist, considers himself a "cultural Christian", in other words he can enjoy and appreciate the heritage that Christianity has given society. This includes singing carols. Strange! I can understand appreciating churches, applauding Christian charitable efforts and the like but singing songs to celebrate the birth of what Christians consider their God? I really can't get my head around that one.

Nativities

Interesting piece here about the demise of the traditional nativity play in primary schools. What I find most interesting about the article is that the person advocating moving into a less traditional way of presenting the Christmas story (Ralph the Reindeer, Whoops-a-Daisy Angel and the Snowman at Sunset) is "Practising Christian" Niki Davies.
Chairman of the Muslim Forum however said:
Muslim thinker Manzoor Moghal accuses secularists of teaming up with practitioners of what he termed "political correctness" for the decline of the Nativity play.

"I can assure you Muslims do not take offence at Nativity plays," says Mr Moghal, chairman of the Leicester-based Muslim Forum.

"Britain is a Christian country and the majority of people are Christians. We enjoy your festivities and we like to learn about them.

"This is a mistaken, misguided and misrepresentative policy: we should celebrate the freedom to celebrate our faith."
